Education has recently become the gateway for opportunities and has defined how easily someone can or cannot find a high-paying job. As a result, requirements placed on schools and students by the government are more apparent in order to regulate school quality. Pressure from the society has also made students want to succeed and take rigorous classes in order to get into a better school. Students take far more tests in school in order for the government to examine how each school is properly teaching their students. 100 years ago, jobs were readily available, college was an option, and money was easier to obtain, so students weren’t as pressured to achieve high GPA’s and class ranking. In the world today, the people who do well in school are the ones who get the well-paying jobs more easily which is why students who want to succeed push themselves harder in school compared to 100 years ago. Classes that were once taught in 10th grade, such as Algebra one, is now taught as early as 5th grade which shows how children are starting to learn high school courses in middle school in order to be “above-average”. Technology has also had a role in the difficulty of education because the information has led to an increase of the complexity and volume of education students need to master.
