Technology

In the past 100 years, there has been an immense change in technology that has changed the way education is presented and taught. Students around the world today have complete access to any and all information at a click of a mouse. We have recently had access to worldwide search engines such as Google which has given answers to children’s everyday curiosities and questions. Classrooms now have “Smart boards” instead of “Blackboards” in order to make the classroom more “up-to-date” in technology which eases the way students learn. It was not until the early 1970’s that technology really started being introduced to students through the E-Book. In the years since, technology has taken over education and is used in our everyday life.

In the past, students had to look up research in a book rather than simply asking Google to look it up for them, and in an instant, students are given multiple resources to examine. Young adults also use their “smart phones” to have access to the internet and other resources on a convenient hand-held, portable device which hadn’t been introduced 100 years prior. With the invention of the cell phone also came rules and regulations on when and how they were to be used in the classrooms which also added to school policies around the world. Compared to 100 years ago, computers are in almost every classroom and are used regularly as a way of looking up information, performing daily tasks, and quickly typing up information for classes. Students also are able to have high school and college classes online rather than in a classroom which was previously not available. Without technology, students now-a-days would be at a loss, and it is very apparent how quickly technology has taken over and influences classrooms and education around the world; for the better and the worse.
