IBM was founded in 1896 by Herman Hollerith to develop punched card data processing equipment. IBM was a merge of three companies called, “The Computing Scale Corporation”, the “Time Recording Company”, and the “Tabulating Machine Company”. In 1950, the United States Air Force received their computers primarily from IBM for their defense system, and in 1981, IBM introduced the PC computer to the world after Don Estridge was hired in the Entry System Division. The PC computer was not owned by the average household at this time, though, because they cost $1,565, but in years since, the price has gone down substantially and is now in most US households. IBM s known to be the dominant computer business, and has continued to grow and produce computers for the every-day family as well as worldwide businesses. IBM has invented five of the most widely used ideas prominent today including:
the Magnetic Strip Technology,
“With this invention, buying things became much simpler and faster.”
Computer Scale,
