Laws
Law books.
Laws regarding education in the late 1800s and mid 1900s were similar to those in the late 1900s and 2000s in some aspects, but different in others. For example, in both time periods the laws regarded equality between students. Discrimination based off of race, religion, and disabilities was trying to be discouraged at all times. However, in the earlier time periods the laws were more focused on keeping students in school and getting them to school. Laws were made so that schools were forced to provide transportation for students to bring them to and from the schoolhouse. Laws were also made to require children to get an education. On the other hand, in the more recent time period, keeping students in school was not much of a challenge. In this time period, laws were much more focused on preventing discrimination of all types. The "No Child Left Behind" Act made it so students were not discriminated and treated worse because of their disabilities. Laws were also made to prevent religion from taking too much play in public schools. The Creationism Act made it so beliefs regarding how humans came to be were not brought into the learning environment. Laws always play a role when it comes to education, but the focus of the laws depend on the time period.
